Darcie Warren, Founder and Principal Consultant, brings to this work twenty years’ experience building successful coalitions, managing public health policy change and program startup, and providing high-quality training and technical assistance.
Darcie has worked at American Lung Association, UW-Milwaukee's Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health, Wisconsin's Division of Public Health Southeast Region-Milwaukee Office, SmokeFree Wisconsin, and SEIU, the healthcare workers' union. While at SmokeFree Wisconsin, Darcie led a referendum campaign in Marshfield that resulted in the Central Wisconsin city becoming one of the first in the state to adopt a strong smoke-free workplaces ordinance. Also, she
organized a hospitality industry coalition that lobbied the State Legislature to make all workplaces smoke-free across Wisconsin, including bars and restaurants. At American Lung Association, Darcie led Wisconsin's statewide tobacco prevention and control movement and offered training and technical assistance to 50+ Wisconsin communities to achieve dozens of ordinances that incorporate e-cigarettes into clean indoor air, as well as select tobacco-free parks policies.
In her position at UW-Milwaukee, Darcie supported the Dean and Faculty to startup eight graduate programs and co-led the School of Public Health's initial successful CEPH accreditation efforts.
Darcie graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BA in Political Science and a certificate in Chicano/a Studies, and she completed a Master of Public Administration degree at UW-Milwaukee. She successfully completed training programs with the AFL-CIO, Midwest Academy of Organizers, UW-Extension’s Leadership Institute, and the Mid-American Public Health Institute.
As a consultant, Darcie led the Wisconsin Public Health Association’s Mobilizing Communities for a Just Recovery pilot planning project, federal policy alignment for the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids in Wisconsin, and a statewide planning process for Wisconsin’s tobacco prevention program, among other smaller contracts. She lives on Milwaukee's Northshore with her husband and two school-aged children.
